Acropolis of Ancient Sparta – Statue of King Leonidas – ‘House of Europe’ – Museum of Olive and Greek Olive Oil. 

Our tour starts from the Ancient Acropolis of Sparta, administrative and religious centre of the city from the 8th century BC, with remarkable excavation findings such as the Roman Theatre and the Sanctuary of Athena Chalkioikos, patron goddess of Ancient Sparta. Then, crossing the main avenue of Modern Sparta, we will come to the Statue of King Leonidas, we will admire world-famous mosaics and beautiful neoclassical buildings. Our walk concludes with our visit to the Museum of Olive and Olive Oil with exhibits that concern the history and technology of olives and olive oil production in Greece, from prehistoric times to the beginning of the 20th century, emphasising the importance of the olive trees in shaping the identity of our area.
